Description

While continuing to shoot the 8-panel mosaic of my current project I was able to test NINA's (acquisition software) moon altitude tracker on some LRGB data. This tracker which in a nutshell allows you to shoot narrowband while the Moon is still in the sky and then automatically switches to another target (broadband) as soon as the Moon sets. All done while I was fast asleep!
The advantage is two-fold, maximize imaging time and shoot broadband targets without too much influence of moonlight. This is the result, 27 mins of LRGB data of NGC 5139 Omega Centauri a globular cluster in the constellation of Centaurus.
Located about 17,000 light-years away it is the largest known cluster in the Milky Way containing an estimated 10 million stars (source: Wikipedia)
